Abstract

This project aims to achieve a cost reduction in both ship loading and blending operations with a stacker through the purchase of new machinery. First of all, a brief description of the company is elaborated in order to understand what it is dedicated to at the operational level, focusing the explanation on the ship loading procedure, and to a certain extent, on blending. Subsequently, a review of bibliographic sources is made in order to locate methodology of a similar context to the case treated, which can be used to apply it to the project. This leads to the results and discussions. In these sections it is explained how the expected values of acquiring a new machinery have been calculated, followed by a dialectic on the implications of these results. Finally, it concludes with a reasoning that frames the objectives that have been set and what has been done about them.
