Máster CITES : un caso de éxito en la cooperación española = a success story of the Spanish cooperation (2019)

Abstract

Libro conmemorativo del Máster de la UNIA sobre Gestión y Conservación de especies en comercio: El marco internacional, editado por la Agencia Española de Cooperación Internacional para el Desarrollo (AECID). Este Máster fue creado en 1997 con el objetivo de proporcionar formación de alta calidad, especializada en los fundamentos científicos, las técnicas e instrumentos que permitieran la aplicación y el desarrollo de la Convención Internacional de Especies Amenazadas de Fauna y Flora Silvestres (CITES). Pues bien, la mayoría de los casi 350 alumnos que han cursado este Máster han conseguido integrarse laboralmente en las estructuras gubernamentales a cargo de la CITES y de la Convención de Diversidad Biológica, en ONGs, universidades y otras instituciones relacionadas con el medio ambiente en un total de 97 países de los cinco continentes. // This is a commemorative edition of UNIA’s Master’s course in “Management and Conservation of Species in Trade: the. International Framework,” edited by The Spanish Agency for International Development and Cooperation (AECID). It is undeniable that, after these 13 editions, we could not have achieved more valuable or encouraging outcomes. This Master’s course was created in 1997, with the objective of providing high-quality training focusing on the scientific foundations, as well as the techniques and instruments, that have allowed the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) to be applied and developed. The majority of the nearly 350 students that have graduated from this Master’s course have been able to find employment in the governance structures of CITES and the Convention on Biological Diversity, in NGOs, universities and other environmental institutions in 97 countries across all 5 continents.
